Posts: Not Merely for Structural Unity Anymore

We were fortunate when we added to the rear of our home – there were not also many bugs. Among the larger ones, though, concerned the visit of a structural engineer as well as a fiat that if we did not help the area that used to be the rear of the home with with a large, clunky metal beam, every thing could come crashing down about (and, perhaps worse, we would not get the inspector’s acceptance).

The beam wound up up being no big deal and today it provides us a convenient place to level to whenever some one asks where the old house finished.

Beams are not the only beneficial structural characteristics, although – posts are really fairly common in building and, handily enough, can even be fairly stunning:

Great Split Builders

This structural program that is inside seems incredibly sound – and has a pastoral feel that is really attractive.

Andre Rothblatt Architecture

I love the angles of the space – it is got a Frank Lloyd Wright/ artsandcrafts/ Mondrian vibe that’s really cool.

It is an excellent example of how to incporate a post without destroying the lines of a space. This post was probably since it is attached into a half wall, although added for help, it will not stick out like a sore thumb.

Having said that, I enjoy just how this post DOES stand out out. I do believe it was clever to maintain post and the beam normal wood – they switch to architectural part from structural requirement.

Madson Style

I really like these thick veranda posts.

Sagan / Piechota Architecture

But I adore this wood post that is scrawny. It functions flawlessly using the perspective that is excellent.

Samuel H. Williamson Associates

The building of the house is astounding – on a grander scale, although it reminds me of high end wood furniture.

Talking of scales that are grand, I ‘ve a sense this spot would simply take away my breath personally. The posts attract the eye upward, giving a feeling of awesomeness to the entire space.

Griffin Enright Architects

I enjoy the way they compare with the wood to include a small modern border, although I I can not inform the precise structural function of these alloy posts.

Blount Architectural and Interior Layout

Naturally, not absolutely all places are structural. I’ve to confess – I was really given the idea for the entire ideabook by this bed – and nothing is even supported by its own posts. In principle, I believe these places would really seem a bit twee, which can be not my style. But used, I believe they may be truly quite cool.
